HBO Max’s digitally remastered version of Mad Men launched this week with numerous production mistakes visible to viewers. The service promoted the Emmy-winning AMC series would stream “in 4K, giving audiences and longtime MAD MEN fans the opportunity to enjoy the series’ authentically-crafted elements with crisp detail and enhanced visual clarity.” However, the enhanced picture quality revealed behind-the-scenes elements never meant for viewing. In one Season 1 scene where Roger Sterling, played by John Slattery, vomits in the office, crew members operating a fake vomit machine are clearly visible. A Season 2 episode shows Peggy, played by Elisabeth Moss, walking past a Mexican restaurant displaying a Los Angeles phone number and modern cellphone ads despite the 1960s setting. Episodes also contained incorrect titles. Producers are working to deliver corrected versions. (Story URL)
